What Went Right and What Went Wrong

THE ROAD I HAVE CHOSEN
Around the end of many great endeavors I learned things that I will carry for the next steps of my journey. I have been doused with the essentials on becoming teacher. The road which leads to learning is filled with necessary experience to mend the imperfections.
In my three months of stay at Justo V. Imperial Memorial High School, I learned a lot of things, I became better, I improved and most importantly I am now ready to be a hero which they called “teacher”. Teaching is a continuous process it requires hard work and patience. Some will regret that they have chosen teaching as a profession but it will never be me. Since the day that I chose teaching it became my dream, my passion and my life.
I was very lucky to be assigned at Justo V. Imperial Memorial High School and very blessed to have a cooperating teacher who is very competitive and humble. I was given four loads, two sections of Grade 7 from the Special Program in the Arts Curriculum and two sections of Grade 7 from the Basic Education Curriculum. At first I thought it would be very difficult because their minds are still into playing. It was a big challenge for me to motivate my students to listen and learn but with my proper techniques and strategies I hooked all their hearts. They became interested to learn, they had fun with English, enjoyed English Class and most importantly they gained important lessons of life through English. There are some students who are hard headed which I find difficult to manage but I always make sure that before the day ends I already reprimanded them accordingly. Through the efforts that I made, my students became participative and even those students who do not have confidence with themselves became expressive and active in the class discussion. They improved and discover what they have. It is very satisfying that my students appreciated my efforts and learned from me. The best gift and the best reward for me as their teacher is that they learned and apply what I taught them. The most gratifying statements that I have heard from my students which made me feel very special and important are “ You are the best teacher that I have Ma’am Jessica”, “ Please be a teacher here in our School after you graduate”, “ I learned a lot from you Ma’am Jessica!”. My feelings are always unexplainable every time my students value me because of them I become more in love to teaching.
Throughout my journey I learned many great things that helped me to be a competitive individual. Sometimes it is from experiences which I cannot forget and sometimes from unexpected moments that I treasured most.
As I entered the world of teaching, opportunities, responsibilities and chances welcomed me. At first I was afraid to grasp and try new things but as I go through I found out that I have something inside that needs to be developed and discovered. Off- Campus Teaching aided me to unwrap what I have. It permits me to do what I need to do without any hesitation. It opened a new room which will expose my innate potentials with the best of me.
As an educator my goal is to provide my learners the need of wisdom, life-time experiences and the values that they need in order to be a good student and a person.
